From the factory, your engine has a powdered metal crankshaft gear/timing chain sprocket. When you start to add parts that increase horsepower and run high RPM, the factory crank gear becomes the weak link. This gear is cheap insurance to protect your engine from valvetrain failure! With the addition of this gear/sprocket, your Coyote engine will be ready to handle the rigors of high horsepower and high RPM track sessions!
