This is the same short block in Uncle Frank's 2.3 Whipple Lightning running a 9.53 in the 1/4 mile. Shed around 100 pounds off the nose, and pickup rigidity from the meaty 2011-2012 Shelby GT500 Block. The weak-link in the factory 5.4L engine is with out a doubt the OEM connecting rods. Team JDM uses Manley H beam 4340 forged rods with ARP 2000 hardware. These heavy duty rods are used to support the rotating assembly with a Ford Performance Cobra Jet crankshaft and Mahle pistons with a custom ring package. Special coated bearings allow the crank and rods to spin freely with minimal friction limiting wear and tear. The oil pump is also upgraded to a GT500 unit with billet gears inside for extra strength. If you are looking for a durable and reliable engine for your Lightning/Harley this is it!
