Set of 8 stock replacement Ignition Coil Pack Set for 2007-2012 Shelby GT500 5.4L DOHC by Ford Racing.
On newer vehicles a coil pack replaces the distributor. This electronically controlled pack of ignition coils regulate by the cars computer and is used to create the spark for each engine cylinder's spark plug. Being the coil packs usually create a better spark it produces better combustion and horsepower in cars engines.
Coil Pack Problems and symtoms of a faulty coil pack
- Rough idle
- Noticeable lack of power
- A significant drop in RPM's while accelerating for no reason
- A blinking or intermittently activating check engine light
- Unexplainably louder than usual engine
- An active gas warning light when the vehicle has plenty of gas
- Smoke from the exhaust emitting intermittently, instead of in a steady stream
Usually, if a coil pack is bad there will be a loss of fire or spark in one or more cylinders or in other term as misfire. Which can cause drag on the crankshaft and usually results in a poor performing engine.
