The IRS Brace is made of Cold Rolled Steel. The stock cover is a very thin cast and does not stand up to much flexing. With the rear brace supporting the rear cover it allows for less flexibility which the result would be less brakeage and less chance of leakage. The rear brace and the pinion snubber would be a great combinations for preventive damage to the rear.
